DESCRIPTION:We welcome the public to visit and explore the new Kernersville Recreation + Event Center.\nThis has been a long time coming – its been over 40 years waiting for our own recreation center! We are so excited to show the public our facility that broke ground on Saturday June 10th 2023. The center is located at 1020 Shields Rd on the corner of Shields and Union Cross. The event is Saturday December 14th\, 2024\, doors opening at 6:00pm. During this time there will be holiday music to enjoy yourself as you explore the facility\, there are staff stationed at each room to expand on that amenity’s usage. The facility has two separate gyms\, a stage\, multi-purpose room\, classroom\, fitness room\, indoor walking track\, conference room and our administrative offices. We will also have the option to reserve a basketball court\, which can be set up as a full size or short-run basketball courts or volleyball courts. The feature film will start at dusk which is around 7:30pm. The mailbox will be at Harmon Park (152 S Main St.) for your child to send their letter to Santa\, it’ll be located at the Leo Burks Memorial Gazebo. Please be sure to include a self-addressed\, stamped envelope with the message. You can drop off letters starting Tuesday November 25th\, through the day of the tree lighting Saturday December 6th\, 2025! The mailbox will be at the event Saturday December 6th from 4pm through the end of the event. \n  \n\n  \nThe Christmas tree will be lit every night at 6:00pm December 6th through December 31st for you to enjoy with your family if you are unable to attend this event.
