DESCRIPTION:Larger Flyer \nWe are celebrating a monumental moment for the Parks & Recreation Department\, and we are celebrating all day Saturday June 10th 2023!\n  \nGroundbreaking Ceremony starting at 10:30 am\nThis has been quite the journey starting in early 2021. After gather public input and conceptualizing plans\, the Board of Alderman approved the plan at the Tuesday October 5th 2021 meeting. Then we met with architects and engineers to get a more detailed plan created. All the construction plans are set in stone and we are happy to start building! Details about the journey to get to this moment can be found on the Recreation Center Planning Page. \nThe morning of Saturday we will host the Groundbreaking Ceremony with speeches from Mayor Dawn Morgan\, Director Ernie Pages and additional special guests. Then we’ll don our hardhats and grab shovels to move some dirt! \n  \nTimeline\n10:30am – Speeches & Acknowledgements\n10:45am – Shovel & Photos\n10:50am – Quick Thank You \n  \nGroundbreaking Concert & Firework Show starting at 5:30 pm \nFREE ENTRY\, THERE ARE NO TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT\n  \nThe formalities will happen in the morning\, so we can enjoy the fun in the evening! Bring a lawn chair and kickback to the sounds of The Embers featuring Craig Woolard. We will have food trucks on site and a beer/wine garden. Hutchins. \nThe June 16 movie is DC League of Superpets.\n“Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends\, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime side by side in Metropolis. However\, Krypto must master his own powers for a rescue mission when Superman is kidnapped.” – IMDB \nWe would also like to thank our contributing sponsors: Cone Health MedCenter Kernersville \n  \nThis year for everyone’s safety we are going to reiterate that the playground will be CLOSED at dusk when the movie begins and all children will need to be supervised by a parent at that time.\n  \nThe event will begin at 6:30pm. You can enjoy all the vendors we have on site before the movie. There will be games to enjoy before the movie starts\, as well as food to munch on! First 100 guests received a goodie bag\, beginning at 6:30pm. The feature film will start at dusk which is around 8:45pm.
