What is the counselor-to-camper ratio?

It is 1:5 on a regular day, and 1:4 on field trip days as a couple staff member attend trips.

Who are the staff?

We interview all qualified applicants (we are an EEO establishment) and once hired they receive an extensive training prior to the arrival of campers, including: health and safety, diversity and inclusion, emergency procedures, activity and outdoor program skills, and so much more. All staff members are First Aid and CPR trained.

What does a typical day look like?

The earliest time for drop-off is 7:30am. We start the scheduled activities at 9:00am, reviewing rules and getting them ready for a trip to the park in the morning. They will return around 11:30am for lunch. We provide quiet time after lunch; children can nap or read during this time. Mid-afternoon there is a pre-planned activity; either a craft or structured game. Afterwards, we have snack time. Then we conclude the day with open play. We contract a school bus for all off-site trips.

Please note, this is a typical day; there are adjustments for field trip days and rainy days.

We do provide a specific itinerary for the week, is will be distributed the Friday prior to the week your child is attending camp via email.

What is the latest morning drop-off and evening pick-up time?

Due to program schedules, park adventures, and lunch schedules, we ask that you drop off your child by 9:00am each morning to avoid delays in our activities, unless otherwise discussed. If you have to drop off your child later than that, please call the office as it will be your responsibility to deliver your child to the current groups location.

The last pickup for camp is 5:30pm, there is a grace period of 15 minutes as we understand traffic can be inconsistent, however this should not happen every time as our staff is scheduled to leave at 5:30pm. Once it hits 5:45pm you will incur late fees that are required to be paid.

What if I need to drop my child off late or pick them up early?

As stated above, if you need to drop off your child late, please call the office as it will be your responsibility to deliver your child to the current groups location.

If you need to pick up your child early, please inform the Camp Director via phone, email or in person the day of. Please call the office prior to traveling here in the event your camper is off-site, so we can provide you the details of their current location.

What if my child needs medication?

If your child needs OTC medicine, you are to come meet your child and administer the required dosage. If your child needs prescribed medicine, a form must be filled out and given to the Camp Director and the medicine will be placed in a locked box. When the medicine needs to be administered the child will see the Camp Director.

Do field trips cost extra?

Field trips fees are included in you registration fee. Field trips are predominantly on Fridays and are a full day of camp (9am-5pm); however some field trips could fall on other days or changes may be made to the schedule. They can bring extra money on field trip days for souvenirs and snacks.

Are lunches provided?

Your camper will need to bring their lunch everyday in a bag, small lunch box, etc. They will not be refrigerated. Your child is welcome to bring a water bottle to fill up throughout the day, but it is their responsibility to keep up with it.

Additionally, you are to pack a snack for snack time.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

If you are unable to attend a week, you must notify us at least a full week prior. If extenuating circumstances force you to miss most of this program, you may ask for a refund in writing. This will be submitted to the Director of Parks and Recreation for review. If the spot is able to be filled with someone from the waitlist, you will be refunded in full. If the spot is not able to be filled, you will only be granted 80% of the full amount paid to date.

What if my child gets overstimulated during the day?

We have a Quiet Room with sensory friendly tools for them to decompress. The staff will check on them at ten minute intervals.

What are the rules around Swim Days?

We normally swim on Wednesdays at a local neighborhood pool with lifeguards. Your camper will need to arrive at camp in their swimwear, towel, and sunscreen already applied. If your child isn’t a strong swimmer they are allowed to bring flotation devices, but they must keep up with it.

For water park field trips, prior to the children getting into the pool the lifeguards will make all children pass a swim test. If they do not pass the swim test, they will be regulated to certain areas of the pool.

Can my child bring extra money?

Yes, you can provide extra money for vending machine snacks and/or field trip purchases BUT it is your child’s responsibility to keep up with it. We provide all campers with a money pouch to keep their funds in.

Can my child bring electronics, safety blankets/animals, trading cards, etc.?

No, we foster your child with a full day of activities to keep them engaged and comfortable. Additionally, in the risk of things getting stolen or misplaced it is not our responsibility to keep track of these items.
