Holiday Season Prep

Events

This weather is getting everybody ready for winter, but it is still Fall until December 21st; so lets enjoy this season. So we will hold strong to our Fall vibe and hope the weather gets on board – we have some activities we know you’ll love to round out the season. So here are a few things on our Fall & Winter Bucket List that we want to share with you!

Fall Bucket List

Go for a walk ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ

We have miles of trails for you to choose from! If you want a challenge visit Ivey M Redmon Sports Complex where we host multiple cross country meets all year long for a 5K or 2 Mile option, or for a leisurely stroll visit Fourth of July Park for a 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile route, and lets not forget about the new Kerner Mill Greenway which is 1.2 mile trail (one-way length).

Fall Photo Shoot! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ“ท

Our parks are turning into a lovely palette of red, orange and yellow hues. Experience the breathtaking sight of our trees ablaze in the colors of fall! Harmon Park is always a great backdrop for photos, or plan a photography session at the Paul J Ciener Botanical Garden (fee required)!

Bonfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Whatโ€™s this weather without a great fire with sโ€™mores and great company! Go on to the store to get your chocolate, graham crackers & big marshmallow and call some friends over. Safety is also a priority, so ensure you abide by your jurisdictions rules to safely host a bonfire! Such as only burning untreated wood 25+ feet away from a structure. Contact the Fire Marshallโ€™s office for more information.

Get crafty! ๐ŸŽจ

Fall is the perfect time for crafting! Whether its solo or with the family. Your creation can be a self-care outlet like making a pretty fall wreath or decorating your front porch for the season. If you don’t know what to create, join us for our craft class Wednesday, November 8th or Wednesday, December 6th. (Clink Paint+Sip)

Winter Bucket List

Festivities are here! ๐ŸŽ„

We will have Christmas Around Downtown on Saturday December 2nd, and the night ending with our annual Kernersville Christmas Tree Lighting. Shop during the day to knock items off your Christmas list and then we will have hot chocolate, carolers, and best of all Santa Clause to light the tree โ€“ bringing in the Holiday Season!

Mail a letter to Santa ๐ŸŽ…

Have your children write a letter to Santa Claus, and in a few weeks, they will receive a letter from him in return! There will be a mailbox for your child to send their letter to Santa located at the Leo Burks Memorial Gazebo in Harmon Park. Please be sure to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with the message. Santa’s mailbox will appear on Monday November 20th and stay through Monday December 11th!

Learn how to bake your favorite holiday treats ๐Ÿช

Every family has certain recipes that are passed down through the generations. Take the time to learn them from your grandparents and parents. Spending time with the family, in the kitchen, is a cherished and important item to check off your list.

See Christmas lights ๐Ÿ’ก๐ŸŽ„

There are various neighborhoods with houses lit for all to see. We encourage you to visit the Christmas tree at Harmon Park, as it will be lit every night at 6:00pm December 5th through December 31st for you to enjoy with your family if you are unable to attend the Christmas Tree Lighting event.
