Kernersville Community Recreation & Event Center – Groundbreaking Ceremony & Concert

We are celebrating a monumental moment for the Parks & Recreation Department, and we are celebrating all day Saturday June 10th 2023!
Groundbreaking Ceremony starting at 10:30 am
This has been quite the journey starting in early 2021. After gather public input and conceptualizing plans, the Board of Alderman approved the plan at the Tuesday October 5th 2021 meeting. Then we met with architects and engineers to get a more detailed plan created. All the construction plans are set in stone and we are happy to start building! The morning of Saturday we will host the Groundbreaking Ceremony with speeches from Mayor Dawn Morgan, Director Ernie Pages and additional special guests. Then we’ll don our hardhats and grab shovels to move some dirt!

Groundbreaking Concert & Firework Show starting at 5:30 pm
FREE ENTRY, THERE ARE NO TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT
The formalities will happen in the morning, so we can enjoy the fun in the evening! Bring a lawn chair and kickback to the sounds of The Embers featuring Craig Woolard. We will have food trucks on site and a beer/wine garden. Once we’ve jammed out to some tunes, we’ll end the night with a firework show!
